We travelled to Revdanda as a group of 10 (8 Adults + 2 Kids) over the weekend of 6th August 2016. The booking was made through Guesthouser after making lot of enquiries about the amenities and facilities. Unfortunately we found couple of discrepancies between what was committed and what was available (From both Guesthouser and the Owner). Below is a comprehensive review based on our experience.
1. The Bungalow -
a. Pros :-
i. Aesthetic interiors.
ii. Spacious bedrooms
iii. Kitchen with all required utensils, gas connection and a refrigerator
iv. 20 Liters Packaged Drinking Water complimentary
v. Ample provision of extra bedding, pillows and bedsheets
vi. Well maintained bathrooms. Hot water available 24 hours. Amenities like Soap, Toothpaste provided.
b. Cons
i. Not easily accessible. The bungalow is located in the interiors of Revdanda Village. A very small road takes you to the Bungalow. If you have a big Car (SUV/Crossover), you may find it difficult to navigate through the narrow road.
ii. The Bungalow is surrounded by other bungalows resulting in poor ventilation which develops a foul humid smell (Since the Bungalow is not being used frequently).
iii. Lot of Mosquitos. We had to keep the Mosquito Coil burning during our entire stay. So if you are allergic to the smoke, you will have a hard time.
iv. Only ONE Bedroom is Air Conditioned. When we had contacted Guesthouser, we were told that all rooms are air conditioned. With no ventilation and tropical climate, staying in a closed non air-conditioned room is impossible. It was considerably hot until late night.
v. Voltage Fluctuations resulting in super slow running ceiling fans. The ceiling fan in the living room and bedroom were almost useless.
vi. You are not allowed to use the kitchen to cook meals. You can only warm the food and make small portions (KIDs meals, Maggie, Etc).
vii. The living room is not spacious. You can’t plan any group activities. 8 people can sit comfortably though.
viii. There are only two bathrooms. Only one of those is attached to the bedroom. (In our initial enquiry we were told that all bedrooms have attached bathrooms)
ix. The Bathroom attached to the Master Bedroom has transparent glass walls. Outsiders can see what’s happening inside. (Although considering the location of the bungalow, no outsiders are expected J). Which makes the bathroom useless.
2. The Owner, Caretaker and Caterer –
i. The owner cleared few things beforehand (No use of Kitchen, etc) But he also provided false information about the air-conditioning and attached bathrooms
ii. Caretaker wasn’t very helpful and customer oriented. We called him multiple times to complain about Slow Running Fans but didn’t get any assistance.
iii. Caterer is AWESOME. It was probably the best part of our trip. The caterer cooks food at his place and brings over in clean containers to the bungalow. We had ordered Fish / Chicken Thalis for lunch, Fish Fry starters / dry chicken for dinner and breakfast for the morning. All items were made using fresh ingredients. Caterer also provided plates, bowls and spoons. The price is very affordable (INR 5500 for all the above items)
To summarize, If you are a group of stags, this is an awesome place for bachelor’s party style of outing. But definitely not a place for a family outing.
