Your Space Set against the luxuriant backdrop of a pristine eucalyptus plantation, this quaint colonial bungalow sits before a sweeping lawn, colourful flowerbeds, and the expansive Ooty valley. About a century old, this bungalow has been a holiday home to my ancestors since the early 1940's. Designed and built by an Australian gentleman, it holds beautiful and endearing memories that date back to generations. Exuding old-world charm, the bungalow combines rustic stuccoed exteriors with delicate yet tall French windows and a traditional Mangalorean roof with bay windows. The sprawling lawn is an inviting proposition in itself as it flaunts luscious flowerbeds of hibiscus blossoms, which sit prettily alongside majestic well-pruned topiaries and fir trees. With the lush valley sprawled before it, the lawn—equipped with wrought-iron furniture—provides a lovely setting to enjoy a romantic evening over endless cups of chai and steaming samosas. Encased in a row of windows, the living room comes well-equipped with elegant sofas, a divan, and a four-seat dinette. Although the ceiling is a rustic raftered one, the living room features modern chevron flooring in laminated wood and wood-panelled walls. Inside, the accommodation features six spacious bedrooms, each of which is populated by simple furniture, including twin high-platform beds—that can be joined for a double accommodation too—a cushy bench, and basic storage essentials. Rich floral drapes and polished hardwood flooring add a hint of luxury. A few of the bedrooms lead out to the lawn, so a refreshing walk along a gorgeous view is only a step away from here.
