Coonoor offers you a lesser bustle than Ooty. The streets are not that crowded. Marketing can be done leisurely. True to a tourist place, while the prices are high in Ooty it still (thankfully) remains lower in Coonoor. With permission you can visit one of the tea factories (either of TANTEA, or others), and see tea being made first hand. The innumerable tea estates surrounding Coonoor are a pleasant green sight to the eye. Short drives around Coonoor would be to Ketti and a little further up towards Ooty is the Valley View. Kateri Dam is nothing much to see, only a small dam built originally for the army (even now it is used by the Cordite Factory at Aruvankadu). Kotagiri, another small town of surrounding tea estates, is about 28 kms away. The Pakasura Hill is a forest area, again a short drive from Coonoor. Be careful of sheer drop of more than 300 feet, (not fenced) from where you can see the canopy of the forest below you. Careful with children. Travel Assistance is Available
