Built by the Nawab of Bhawalpur in 1937, Our property stands majestically at a height of 1,000 meters, amidst 15 acres of lush forests and tea gardens in the Kangra Valley in Taragarh, Himachal Pradesh. The palace was built as a summer resort and it was acquired by the Royal Family of Jammu & Kashmir in 1951.

Formerly known as Al-hilal (land of the crescent moon) ,Taragarh Palace, was built in the early 1930s as a summer resorts. It was bought by the royal family of Jammu & Kashmir in 1951 for the dowager Maharani who lived there for several years.

Excursions : Dharamshala (60 km) This hill resort climbs up the hill from 1250 to 2000m. This colourful Tibetan township has the newly-built Gelugpa monastery and a school for Tibetan culture with an excellent library. Tibetan crafts and food stalls are readily available everywhere. Mcleodgunj, Upper Dharamshala (65kms) At a height of 1,770m, little Lhasa, as it is often referred to, is the residence of the exiled Dalai Lama with a large settlement of Tibetan Buddhists who sought refuge here in the year 1960. Norbulingka Institute, Dharamshala Norbulingka, in a delightful setting of little streams and bridges, was established to preserve and teach the ancient Tibetan arts. Here one can watch wooden carvings and embroidery being done. Kangra Art Museum, Dharamshala Kangra Valley's arts, crafts and artifacts dating back to the 5th century.
