Settled before a luscious tropical garden, this traditional yet stately Kerala homestay is surrounded by rich coconut palms, well-tended pastures, and an ancient Mango tree—named ‘Chandanakaran’ by the locals—which is more than two-centuries old. Ideal for a long family vacation, this cottage comes with sweeping gardens for strolling and picnicking, and ample opportunities to explore the tropical wilderness of Kerala. Housing a twin bedroom and a spacious open kitchen, the cottage is fully floored in terracotta tiles and features redwood-panelled interiors. Well-equipped with a gas hob, an electric chimney, a mini refrigerator, and a coffee machine, the kitchen has everything to engage the culinary experts as well as the lazy ones in your group. Boasting a sprawling layout, the master bedroom flaunts traditional décor, which includes twin beds, rustic hewn wood and wicker furniture, and a gleaming raftered wooden ceiling. Handcrafted and woven carpets that dress the floor enhance the homely vibe of the bedroom. The en suite bathroom features interesting elements, such as an open-roof shower area—which has six feet-high walls to ensure privacy—pebbled flooring that is decorated with rock vases and cement tiles, and modern sanitary ware. Modestly furnished with traditional wooden décor which includes comfortable twin beds, a luggage rack, a study desk, and storage shelf, the twin bedroom oozes homely vibes that make you wish you could have holidayed here longer. The en suite bathroom is well-equipped with modern sanitary ware and floored in hardwood. An interconnecting lobby is equipped with a single bed and a wardrobe for the special convenience of an extra guest.

The tallest tree in the whole village, everybody talks about ‘Chandanakaran’ as if it were a living person. Which you will also find, it is.
