We travel,some of us forever,to seek other places, other lives,other souls.-Anais Nir This Homestay is situated in peaceful valley of Pastanga(East Sikkim)23 km away from mg marg Gangtok. I makes you feel always close to the environment -the sound of the running river,the chirp of the birds,the cry of the crickets,the flowers of spring,the dew of winter morning and mostly the first fall of sun's rays on the mighty Mt.Kanchenjunga. The concept of homestay first started in the village in collaboration with Mr.P.D.Rai (M.P.) and Dr.B.B.Rai and the organisation was known as Khedi Eco-tourism Eco-development Promotion (KEEP). It was started in the year 2004. When it was first started the organisation had 4 Homestays,all with one view in mind-the protection of environment. As village 10 km away from town, you can find scenic beauty of the landscape,different types of flora and fauna, different communities living together with their own unique culture. This movement was also started to bring awareness among the people to protect the environment to the old and the young. All the members gathered in the evening had the showcase of different tribal dances, food, songs, play musical instruments like flute, sarangi, binayo, machunga in the evening and have peaceful village walk in d morning. After some years KEEP dissolved but the owner of this Homestay wanted to carry out this work and kept the name of this Homestay Malinggo Homestay. Malinggo is a type of bamboo which is commonly found in Sikkim and used for different purposes. This bamboo is very useful to make furnitures, flutes. This bamboo grows in large scale which can be home for different animals ,birds and food for red panda. Shoots of this bamboo is famous for making pickles. Malinggo Homestay is a place where you can be in one with the nature.Early in the morning you can hve the pleasant view of sun's rays falling on Mt.Kanchenjunga, after breakfast you can go for a walk in the village to see different types of orchids, medicinal plants, the organic farming in village and the famous Sumni Hwari Falls (Honey Falls). This place also makes the children happy as they forget their gadgets and play with the very friendly pets of the house. It rejuvenates the bond between the family member and also yourself. It is also an inspiring place for artists of different fields. As for the place, the house is fully furnished with wood and Paintings of the outside environment,a small cottage of your own. In the evening you can taste the traditional food and drink -millet wine (tongba),wa-chi-pa and herbal pakora. You can have bonfire, you can sit around the fire and play guitar. If you love walking You can also go for 3 days and 3 nights trekking to Khedi-the place of rhododendron or can go for hiking. Whoever comes to our homestay becomes a part of the family.
