A total of 758 Sq. kms of this Southern Indian moist tropical deciduous forest has its extent mingling with the tropical dry deciduous teak. The area is adorned by a number of streams and tributaries most of which are seasonal. Altough the Pench River dries up by April end, however a number of water pools locally known as 'dohs' exist that are habitat to a plenty of water fauna.
The virgin landscapes have always been a delight for the visitors who feel surrounded with stunning shades of nature. Due to dense prey population Pench River, tiger usually inhabits this belt. Leopard, occasionally can be seen loitering in the peripheral areas but are found prominently in the deep forest. Leopard cats, small Indian civets and palm civets are in abundance but seen rarely.
