Madikeri

Tourists visit this place to see the Madikeri Fort, and plantations of coffee and spice estates. The air is cool and has the aroma of coffee, cardamom, pepper, and Coorg honey. Endless Mountain ranges, tall trees reaching for the sky, and the holy river Cauvery gives Kodagu its unique character.


Abbey Falls


These waterfalls are seventy feet high and are surrounded by private coffee plantations with thick coffee bushes, and spice estates with lush trees and pepper vines. A hanging wooden bridge, opposite the falls, lets you enjoy the phenomenal view of the waterfall.


Chelavara Falls


This small and beautiful waterfall is seasonal and also known as Emepaare, which means tortoise in the local language. The drive to the falls is very alluring with green rice fields and coffee estates in view. One can spot beautiful butterflies and wild flowers around the waterfall.


Iruppu Falls


Take a short, one-kilometre trek to visit this hidden gem and enjoy a refreshing shower of the natural water. It’s a major tourist attraction as well as a pilgrimage spot. A famous Shiva temple, the Rameshwara Temple, is on the banks of the Lakshmana Tirtha River on the way to the Falls.


Mallalli Falls


The water falls from a height of two hundred feet. This waterfall is less crowded than other tourist attractions and will captivate your heart and soul.


Nagarhole National Park


It has dense forest, hills, streams, waterfalls, and valleys. The park offers a jungle safari in the morning and evening, and tigers, elephants, peacocks, wild pigs, big cats and Indian bison can be spotted. You must visit here to experience nature closely.


Honnamana Kere


This lake is considered holy and is very quiet and serene, surrounded by cliffs and coffee plantations. There is a temple built along the lake dedicated to Goddess Honnamma who sacrificed her life for the prosperity of people.


St Anne's Church, Virajpet


This is one of the oldest churches in India and was built in the 1790s. It symbolises Coorg’s secular traditions. The architecture of the church is European and the interiors are Gothic with statues from the bible. The church has a 180 feet high pinnacle which resembles a giant candle.


Bagamandala—Temple and River Confluence


Bagamandala is a sacred place situated at the confluence of three rivers—Cauvery, Kannike, and Sujyoti, also known as ‘Triveni Sangama’.
